Look Out, Oprah! It’s Katy’s Favorite Things!

If you know me, you know I’m GAGA for the holidays! I love everything about this time of year. I put together a MadLib of sorts to show you my favorite things. I’d love to know some of your favorite holiday things. So, let’s share! Wherever you see a link, click on it to see my faves. Then, tag me with #LTCFab on social media and tell me your holiday favorites!

I love holiday cookies (click the link for my favorite kind), the lights (I’m prone to trans siberian orchestra dancing lights!), and the caroling (I love this jazz version of Good King Wenceslas). If I’m honest, though, my real favorite Christmas song is this one, but don’t tell anyone! As soon as I hear it, a giant smile spreads across my face and I can’t help but dance across the living room. Just talking about that song puts me in a great mood! vintage christmas tree decor

Another great thing about this time of year are the holiday movies. I love to gather my family together, snuggle up under a blanket and watch Elf. It’s hilarious, age-appropriate for everyone (how did they do that?), and gets all of us laughing. And, it reminds me that the holiday season is really about remembering who and what is important to you.

You know what else puts me in a good mood? Decorating my house! I’m obsessed with these vintage Christmas porcelain houses. Sometimes we sell them at Listed Treasures, and I’m the first in line to add to my collection!

I feel so joyful around the holidays, and it feels like that goodness has to go somewhere or I’ll explode. That’s why I started doing this Kindness Advent Calendar. It’s not religious–and anyone of any age can do it! It asks you to do one little gesture of kindness each day. And the acts are so easy, you can get your kids involved, too. I’m including the calendar at the bottom so you can print it out, put it on your fridge and do it too!

Lastly, of course there are gifts this time of year. My favorite gifts are those that are high-quality and have a story. It’s also important to me to give things that are good to the Earth. That means the gifts don’t come from far away (carbon footprint), aren’t immersed in a lot of packaging (waste), and don’t contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. I feel so good giving gifts from Listed Treasures–I know that the items are well-made (I know this because I personally handle and assess each item before we sell it), in great condition and have a history.

This year, I’m giving the DIY-ers in my life home and gardening tools from Listed Treasures. I know that doesn’t sound very romantic, but I can’t help myself! These power tools are in excellent condition (some barely used!), and they’re a fraction of what you’d pay for new ones in a big box store. I know my loved ones will appreciate it–and maybe together we’ll even fix that broken fence out back?

Enjoy this time with your loved ones. Open your home to friends and celebrate all that we have. Let your joy spread out over the entire world. And, if you have a favorite cookie recipe I want it!
